Before sending out that next group email, you may want to consider these items!
__ Permission Based! Don’t blindly send an email to people you’ve met years ago. Ask for e-mails at Point of Sale or Check Out or at Networking Events. Ask for e-mails along with a contest clearly stating you will not sell, spam or share their email. Start collecting!
__In The Field. Is it a real person’s name? Does it look like spam? Did you use a return email that comes from a live person?
__In The Subject Line. Does it arouse curiosity? Is it short enough to see the whole message without opening the e-mail? Have you avoided using words that set off spam filters?
__In The Message. Does the opening phrase hook you? Does the list know you? Did you remind them of that in the message? Did you spell check? Is there an opt out link? Does it work? Are your links clickable? Did you run a live test to make sure all works? Did you include yourself on the list?
__Easy To Read. You can insert photos but if they can’t see them because of firewalls, they can now view them on-line with most e-mail marketing programs. 2 thoughts this are that it should be graphically designed well or just use simple plain text.
__Professional. Many of these programs have professional templates you can make your own or easily insert a graphically designed flyer. (most take a jpeg or picture format)
__Reporting! You can clean out emails that don’t exist, see who opened your email, see who went to your web site or blog or article. This is the best feature of email programs and it shows your success rate for people who are opening your mail. By the way a 30% open rate is pretty good for most campaigns.
__Video Friendly. If you send a video link, make sure it is easily downloadable (Like You Tube, Talk Fusion or on your web site) people will not click or take time to download a large video file!
__Keeping Up On The Latest Techniques. The rules are always changing, even my emails are not always perfect, make sure to correct as you go.
Quick tip: Get in the habit of adding emails to your list right away after you collect cards from networking events or better yet add code to your social media and websites so your customers can add themselves! You’ll be amazed at how fast your list grows!
